The DPS Insider Forums

So we do a little bit of everything on the DPS Insider page.  We have a regular blog you can look forward to seeing updated many times a week.  We also have a great cast of people within the audio field listed on the front of the insider page.  We welcome all of you to say hey to all of us.  One of the greatest things we have for all audio related talk as well as tech questions for our DPS Plug In technology is our official DPS Forum.  Posts range from your favorite band (or DJ) to people just asking how to fix or use something.  No matter what it is all about audio and community.  Click the link above and say hello, ask a question and be yourself.

2010 DJ

What is it to be a DJ in 2010?  It must be a very different time.  There are many definitions of what a DJ is from state to state and town to town.  Seattle might have more of an indie dance focus while Miami is very Latin and hip hop.  Detroit might spin vinyl while Chicago mixes iPods together.  No matter what people like to hear a good beat.  A vocal that sticks in your mind.  People love to dance.  Whether it be in a club or letting Pandora do the work.  The DPS Insider invites DJ’s to share their personal tricks and tools of the trade here with the DPS  Forum community.  How is being a DJ in 2010 different for you?  How does technology change the way people view a DJ?  The community would love to hear a DJ’s perspective.  The DPS Insider will be featuring more content focused on the DJ realm.  Stay plugged in.

Surfer Blood at Avalon Recording Studio

Many moons ago a local band once called, TV Club came into the studio to do some tracking.  This band later became national indie rock phenoms, Surfer Blood.  Ryan Copt of Avalon Recording Studio and Bongiovi Entertainment naturally ran the show.  I remember being in and out when the band was recording there and figured I would chime in on my experience as an outsider looking in.  Ryan and I’s project, D_composure played with Surfer Blood when they were named, TV Club.  I liked them.  Reverb driven fun.  They have obviously come a long way since then.  I remember them wanting to just drench their tracks in reverb.  Which now seems to define their sound.  I have worked through Avalon Recording Studio over 10 years and this is one of the bigger acts to record there.  Nice to see local guys making good.  Even nicer to see Ryan getting credit for what is sure to be indie rock record of the year.  Ryan Copt is head engineer at Avalon Recording Studio.  He will be posting in the forums from time to time about his experiences with artists in the studio.  Look for his posts in the DPS forums.
