Economic times are tough. Over the years we have seen Apple grow as a company because of Steve Jobs and his team’s innovations. We have witnessed enormous growth from the Macintosh in 84′ to the iPad 2 in 2011. Our desires to be connected as a people along with the brilliantly simple marketing Apple has pioneered has changed the way we do things on a daily basis. While I sit back and read the many articles popping up around the web, I can’t help but think about the one thing that seems most relevant. Steve Jobs has created jobs! Bongiovi Acoustics creates software solutions like the DPS Plug-In to enhance the iTunes and Mac experience. We work with iHome which makes docking stations (most recently the iW1 Airplay) that house Apple products. These things are what hit home for us. Think of the thousands of companies that are influenced by Apple products. The families those jobs feed. Yeah I have an iPod and the next guy has the iPad 2, but we cannot forget the legacy that sticks in the heart of families and individuals the world over. Steve Jobs and Apple will continue to create jobs. Thank you Steve for doing what you have done for Bongiovi Acoustics and the world. You are alive in us all. -Joseph Beaty, DPS Insider/Bongiovi Acoustics.

Bongiovi Acoustics, developers of the patented Digital Power Station™ (DPS) audio enhancement technology announced that it has introduced a new DPS Plug-In for iTunes. Released initially for Mac OS X users, it dramatically enhances the sound of any Mac computer, as well as its connected speakers, headphones and other auxiliary accessories. Available now, the DPS Plug-In can be sampled for free and purchased for $29.99 at www.dpsplugin.com. It’s designed for Mac users of all levels from first time neophytes to dyed-in-the-wool techies who spend nearly every waking moment in front of their computer screens.

The company plans to release the DPS System Wide Plug-In for Windows users soon. This version will optimize audio from any source on the PC.

The DPS Plug-In improves the brightness and clarity of compressed audio files (mp3, AAC, etc.) while providing richer, deeper bass response. It analyzes the audio signal in real-time and optimizes it for play back through the user’s audio system. It also compensates for differences in volume between songs and enhances dialogue and sound effects for music, movies, television, streaming video and podcasts. If it’s coming through iTunes, it will be dramatically better.

DPS is a 100% active digital processing method that analyzes the incoming audio signal and remixes it in real time for optimized playback on a particular device. Instead of using complex audio controls, the DPS is operated via a user-friendly “profile” system. Each profile contains settings for over 120 calibration points that are custom tuned by Bongiovi Acoustics sound engineers for the intended playback device. Users can easily optimize their own system by selecting custom profiles from Bongiovi’s expanding catalog.

Whether listening to internal speakers on your own computer, your favorite headphones, or external speaker devices connected to your Mac, the DPS Plug-In will provide state-of-the-art digital audio technology. Bongiovi Acoustics Managing Director Ron Simmons said, “The launch of the DPS Plug-In is the next step in our mission to bring studio-quality sound to everyday consumer electronics. Millions of Mac owners can significantly upgrade their audio system with a simple download and now they can custom tune their audio to their own listening tastes using our innovative profile system. It’s all about empowering the customer. We have the unique ability to immediately respond to their requests via our DPS user forums and create new tuning profiles.”

According to Bongiovi Acoustics’ Phil Fuller, VP Engineering/ Technology “We have unique control over the entire frequency spectrum of the program material which means that we can create specific custom profiles that give users freedom of choice to deliver studio-quality sound to their particular playback device, whether it is a MacBook Pro 17″, iMac G5, Apple ear buds or your desktop speakers. We have different profiles for various types of headphones and home entertainment systems. We are all about maximizing the user’s listening experience, regardless of what the playback device is or what its limitations are.”

iHome, a leading supplier of innovative iPod/iPhone speaker solutions, and Bongiovi Acoustics today announced an exclusive partnership to bring Bongiovi Acoustic’s patented Digital Power Station technology (DPS) to select 2009 iHome home audio and portable audio devices. The revolutionary technology uses active sound processing to maximize the response across the entire frequency spectrum, to breathe new life into all of your audio, and in turn, recreate the sound as the artist originally intended listeners to hear.

The first iPod/iPhone docking speaker systems that have incorporated the DPS technology will be on display during CES 2009 at iHome’s booth located in the North Hall, #N245.

“The astounding quality and robust sound produced by Bongiovi Acoustic’s DPS audio technology is a huge step forward in audio sound reproduction,” said Evan Stein, vice president of Marketing, iHome. “We’re very excited to be their exclusive partners and to use their technology to enhance our product line and provide our customers with the best possible listening experience available.”

“Digital audio has redefined how consumers get their music, yet format compressions can often degrade the music,” said Tony Bongiovi, President and co-founder, Bongiovi Acoustics. “When coupled with iHome’s award-winning line of iPod/iPhone speaker systems, our patented DPS technology will ensure an unrivalled listening experience.”

The patented Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station technology was developed by a team of audio engineers that have years of experience in the music, television and motion picture recording industry. It is a complex chip-based algorithm that is custom-tuned to each and every product to maximize its performance. The processor is active, which means it constantly scans the program material in real time and raises frequency levels to compensate for diminished frequency response that results from the compression of the MP3, the most widely used music format. This DPS technology works at any listening volume level.

Bongiovi Acoustics, LLC (www.bongioviacoustics.com) announces that it has solved the most critical challenge presented by MP3/MP4 music playback: Poor quality audio as a result of diminished frequency response from compressed audio data files.

Given the limited bandwidth available in consumer electronics, the industry has developed a number of compression (size) algorithms to reduce the time it takes to download & store digital audio and video files. Bits and pieces of the original master recording’s program material are removed in order to reduce the overall size of the data file. For the most part, this process preserves enough of the program material to compress the file while still providing a reasonable listening experience when played through consumer electronics. This is analogous to the process that was used in making vinyl records when the master recording’s frequency response was altered to ‘fit’ as much audio information on the vinyl records as possible.

The compressed digital audio format of MP3/MP4 files further diminishes the frequency response of the audio content by limiting the transient information that would be found in the original master recording.

The patented Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station processor is a groundbreaking achievement in audio technology. Encoded on a computer chip, the processor can be custom-tuned to maximize the performance of any playback device. The active processor constantly scans the program material in real time and raises frequency levels to compensate for diminished frequency response. “The result is extended frequency and transient response of the compressed program material and a signal as close to the 0 dbfs reference standard of the master recording as can be achieved” says the technology’s inventor, Tony Bongiovi. “The bottom line is, the listener gets to hear more of the original program material”

This first-of-its kind technology was conceived by Bongiovi, an award-winning recording engineer and producer. Bongiovi fused his expertise in both engineering and record production to break down the wall between what is recorded in the sound studio and what the listener ultimately hears when that sound is reproduced on an audio device. “In non-technical terms, the processor recognizes and addresses program material differences and compensates for those variations” says Bongiovi. “The result is that, in terms of sound quality, older recordings sound as good as new recordings and there are no significant volume differences between channels, audio sources or formats.”

The technology and its application is not limited to MP3 players. “It is particularly effective in instances where audio components and their performance are compromised or limited due to size, weight, portability, playback environment or cost factors,” says Bongiovi Acoustics cofounder Ron Simmons. “The processor is a real breakthrough not only for MP3 players, but for all consumer electronics that produce sound and its ease of implementation in any product is a key feature. These products include car audio systems, computers, cell phones, boom boxes, gaming devices, home theatre systems and flat panel displays”

The Digital Power Station processor is currently available in the Bongiovi Acoustics KD-S100 car audio system manufactured by JVC Mobile Entertainment. The system is being distributed as an aftermarket car audio product and is available nationwide at new car dealerships.

The technology will soon be available in headphones, IPOD docking stations and many other consumer electronic products under licensing terms to major manufacturers. Visit www.bongioviacoustics.com for more information about audio compression and the groundbreaking Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station technology.
