Apple just release a beta version of iTunes (10.5), which is 64bit only application.

Is there any plan to update to the recompiled 64bit plugin soon? I think lots of ppl that need iOS 5 SDK/iCloud support will be happy about this since you can't downgrade from iTunes 10.5 to 10.3 once you upgraded. (due to library file version updated)

Actually I just found out the main 64bit issues will have to be resolved by Rogue Amoeba. They develop the iTea middleware that we use with the iTunes plugin and it is 32bit (hence the 64bit console notices some of you have discovered). However, they do have a 64bit build available. Our Mac programmer and they are working to resolve this before the release of iTunes 10.5.

The DPS System Wide version for Mac does not rely on any middleware and it will be available for the most current versions of OSX. I'm looking forward to your participation in the beta program!

As far as developers being on this forum goes you have Phil Fuller who is a project manager and myself as the Bongoivi systems analyst. We are audio engineers by trade which is why we team up with amazing programmers to bring the Digital Power Station to your computer. Feel free to post here or email me at support@bmtdps.com with technical questions and I will get you the answers.

Awww, Lion is released and updated my itunes to 10.4 64bits. No more great sound! Did Rogue Amoeba make the switch to 64 bits yet? I can't live without this plug-in :)

Darnit! I was under the impression full 64bit would not be released until iTunes 10.5. I know our developers are working on this right now and Rogue Amoeba has released iTea 64bit. I will inquire as to the status of the new version...

I'd be more than happy to help beta test - have been beta testing Lion & some other apps for months - either the 64bit plugin or the system wide, preferably the latter. I've got 3 or 4 various models on which to run it thru its paces. Obviously the sooner the better as I inadvertently upgraded to iTunes 10.4 naively thinking it wouldn't affect anything else. To lose my DPS is a major kick in the family jewels!

So it looks like Apple surprised us again with an update that causes issues with the DPS Plug-In. I just got word that our intrepid programmer is working right now to deliver a fix even with his massive toothache (thanks, Glenn!).

I found this to be true in Snow Leopard:

If I un-install the DPS Plug-in then re-install the plugin does appear. If you set up the plugin and activate and leave the interface on the screen you will continue to have access even though Digital Power Station does not appear in the Window menu of iTunes. If you do close the DPS plugin you will hear the DPS effect and it will persist even upon iTunes restart.

I'll keep everyone posted with news of an update. Thanks for all of your patience...

I had the same lack of success... then I UNINSTALLED the plugin and installed it again and now it shows up (not in the WINDOW menu, but it appears as if I had selected it from the window. Of course, I had to re-activate which means I had to dig up my activation code and the appropriate email address. Well, it was a PITA but it seems to be working. Had to re-GET my settings. I am still using snow leopard, but naively let software update upgrade itunes... killed another sound enhancement plugin as well... I deliberately did not upgrade OS to Lion because I did not want to deal with non 64-bit applications. Didn't know they would mess up itunes even for snow leopard.

(If I had read all of Joey B's replies above, I would have known to uninstall first... however, I was in my usual freak out mode which occurs when Apple causes something third party to no longer work and skimmed through most of the replies)

So maybe the re-install deal only works in snow leopard? I guess Lion (even though it looks really cool) can wait.. even on my other 6-month old, grant-provided and still unused MBP.

I have found that in fact the re-install does only work with Snow Leopard and not Lion. Luckily I have multiple Mac Laptops to test on.---Slightly unrelated, I have found a good way of using DPS with Airplay Speakers of any kind, including Apple TV2; Use iTunes with just computer selected in airplay speaker selection then use Airfoil for re-direction of iTunes audio to the speakers of your choice and the DPS plugin functions beautifully, even on multiple speaker selections. Airfoil is not a free utility, but it dramatically compliments the DPS plugin.

    ortem,

The DPS Plug-In for iTunes does work very well with all of Rogue Amoeba's products such as Airfoil and Audio Hijack. (See this post: http://www.dpsinsider.com/forums/topic/dps-itunes-plug-in-on-system-audio )

This is because Rogue Amoeba creates the iTea middleware we use to interface the DPS technology with iTunes. We are working very hard with our friends at Rogue Amoeba to resolve the iTunes 10.4 issue. The latest news is that the audio functions work fine however getting the plugin to appear in the Window menu is presenting some hurdles that I am confident will be overcome.

I'll keep everyone up-to-the-minute on this thread...

The latest update is the big brains at Rogue Amoeba are still wrestling with the new menus in iTunes 10.4. Their iTea software must communicate properly with the iTunes Window menu so the DPS Plug-In (and any other plugin using iTea) knows when to display itself.

You may have noticed that iTunes 10.4 has grabbed up the usual hot keys that have previously been allocated to plugins. A lot has changed under the hood.

hmmmm I wonder if we will get this fixed before the American government fixes the debt ceiling?

    I'm betting yes.

As said before, the plug-in still works in Snow Leopard after a reinstall, we just can't open the DPS Console after closing it. After reinstalling, if you don't close the console, I found that it will open up again even after quitting iTunes. So it's still usable, just don't close the console...at least until the debt ceiling is fixed and the plug-in update comes out :)

    Greetings,

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Lion OSX and afterwords it immediately downloaded an updated iTunes.

I just now discovered NO DPS plugin, its gone, doesn't even show up to select from iTunes?

I will of course do whatever is necessary to get the plain back, even if I have to purchase it again?

Please notify me when the plugin for Lion OSX is available.

As with the others, upgraded to Lion and plug-in is gone. Please let me know when the new version arrives, or better still allow me to use the beta version of the system-wide plug-in.

    UPDATE:

I just got a test build that seems to work in Snow Leopard however Rogue Amoeba is not quite done with the newest version of iTea. The boys are pounding away at it.

I think we will beat the August 2nd deadline ;)

Good to hear it Joey! If you want to send a test build my way for real world testing in Lion, let me know!

We have a TEST BUILD for you to try. For those of you who don't mind digging into your system and assuming beta test responsibilities (don't delete your whole file system by mistake!) here is the link:

    http://avalonrecords.com/Pub/itunes_10-4_dps_testfix.zip

    Installation:

    1) Quit iTunes
    2) Unzip this file
    3) Open the folder Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL
    4) Delete the file Digital Power Station.plugin there
    5) Copy the new Digital Power Station.plugin file from the zip into that folder
    6) Start iTunes. Digital Power Station should appear in the Window menu now.

You will notice there are no hotkeys for opening DPS yet. Let me know if there are any issues on you system.

    Thanks, troops!

Test build does not show up in the Window menu in iTunes 10.4 on Lion. Keep sending me builds, I'll be glad to test them.

The test build above works in in iTunes 10.4 on Snow Leopard; I don't have a Lion machine to test it on though.

+1 on it not appearing on Lion with iTunes v10.4 when following the described steps.
I'm willing to try new beta version to see if they do work.

Roger that fellas. As soon as I get another build (hopefully today) I will make it available. I will be starting another thread for testing as this one is getting a bit long.

Actually the fix did work, but only under some conditions.

It won't show in the menu, so if you had the plugin windows un-hide before you upgrade to iTunes 10.4, you will be able to see the plugin when you run iTunes in 32bit mode. It will not show in 64bit mode, but both 32/64bit modes can see the first launch instruction if you haven't checked the "do not show this again" check box.

And this version also works with Audio Hijack without crashing. Tested on Mac Pro and MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.

As a coder myself, I'd suggest the dev check his code/build settings for the 64bit part.

BTW, why there's no profile for Mac Pro built in speaker?

I have been able to get the plugin running by running iTunes in 32 bit mode in Lion. All functionality seems to work, including getting profile updates
