Happy New Year, Forum Member!

As I write this the Bongiovi Acoustics crew is in Las Vegas for the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show plotting the next exciting applications for the DPS technology.

In just the past few years we've seen the Digital Power Station audio optimization technology appear in the JVC KD-S100 car stereo, the iHome iP1 and now the DPS Plug-In for iTunes! For all of you who have a Macintosh computer you definitely want to visit http://www.dpsplugin.com to check out this amazing tool to breathe new life into your iTunes library!

We have also been busy creating our new information and forum site, http://www.dpsinsider.com. There you will be able to view the latest news, information and events Bongiovi Acoustics is involved in as well as read the bios for folks like Tony Bongiovi (world renown music producer, engineer and inventor of the DPS tech), the musicians and songwriters on our staff as well as myself, your friendly neighborhood forum guy! :-P Just register as a user on the new forum page at http://www.dpsinsider.com/forums and don't forget to register your profile picture at http://www.gravatar.com.

Now that we have this new forum on our own servers I've begun to lock down the old omgform site. All of the original posts will still be readable as there have been some VERY informative conversations. I will, however, be keeping the KD-S100 forum open a while for the excellent currently active threads.

BTW, the engineering team and I have been able to convince the legal folks to release ALL of the original custom profiles for the JVC KD-S100! These are the profiles Tony Bongivoi created for specific model year vehicles when the KD-S100 was a dealer option only (and the reason the original msrp was so high)! This will be our final show of support for the KD-S100, the first ever DPS enabled device, as it goes into legacy status.

But not without a little support from you, dear Forum Member! I won't release the username, password or link to these profiles until the membership of the new DPSInsider reaches 100. And to keep things interesting I've divulged the profile information to one of our forum members (who used to march in drum and bugle corps-hint hint) as well as peppered a few clues around the new DPSInsider forum site. If you happen to figure this one out you get Super Giga Nano Geek Points and a stylish Bongiovi Acoustics T-shirt! hehehe So tell your friends to sign up and get involved!

So, how many more users do we need to get these things?

Could we at least get a list of cars to expect? Any chance there is a profile for the Chevy Equinox?

Well, you got me off my butt and I am no longer a lurker. Let's get up to 100. How many more to go? I would love to have the profile for my 2008 Corolla (I know, my car is very lame so I need to breath some life into it with the factory profile ASAP). To be fair I am install my KD-S100 tonight so I may be happy with the universal disk but it would be great to have the vehicle specific profile.

Thanks for all the help. The stereo sounded great in my Cavalier with the SUB VAR 3. I can't wait to see what a true custom file will sound like!

o.k. so where do i get the jeep wrangler X profile? from Crutchfield you get a "universal" profile. i own a jeep i want the jeep profile. so....where is it?

Just installed the KDS-100 in the Corolla and it seems like the "small car" Beta profile sounds the best. I am pleased but would really like to try out the profile made just for my car. Any chance you can release the profiles for those who sign up for the new forum now? Please? I wish there was a way to send an email blast to all of the people who purchased the KDS-100 from Crutchfield to let them know about the coming profiles. That would get the forum numbers up very quickly!

OK, I just submitted the review below on the Crutchfield site. It looks like it takes a few days before Crutchfield posts it. If others join in with a similar message I am sure that we can hit 100 forum members.

Review start:

Just installed the radio last night and it sounds pretty darn good. Night and day verses the stock radio in my 2008 Corolla. There are Beta profiles available at the Bongiovi website that let you customize the sound profile for your car. I found the "small car" variation to sound better than what was on the Crutchfield CD. This is definitely a "bang-for-your-buck" product.

It looks like Bongiovi Acoustics will release custom profiles specific to your vehicle (just like was released when people bought the radio as a dealer option!!) if they are able to get 100 people to register for their forum. If you own this radio you should navigate to Bongiovi site and sign up so everyone can enjoy the radio the way that Bongiovi originally intended you to!

I am really interested in the stock profiles. I notice my chevy silverado was listed on there.

Just to let some people know my old username on the other forum was "country_3030". However, my email would not let the registration mail through. Change to a generic email and new user name to be able to join here.

You guys are doing a great job! The subscriber number just hit 50! What you guys are able to do with the Crutchfield reviews is impossible for us as the creator of the product. Keep up the good work and the profiles will be yours! And for all of you doing the legwork...read the New Years email carefully.... ;-)

Sweet, half way there. I like the small cabin profile for my double cab tacoma, but I really can't wait to get the actual profile.

Looks like Crutchfield has discontinued the KD-S100 which is going to lower the traffic to the review pages on their site. I must have ordered one of the last ones!

Even without a custom profile, this is a very nice radio. Can't wait to try the custom for my truck, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 mega cab.

I installed the radio behind the Infinity amp that breaks out the sound to the front three (in dash) speakers, the two woofers in the front doors, and the full-range speakers int he rear doors.

I tried all 6 profiles available and I think I settled on VAR02, but I really can't remember. I sat there for a half an hour trying one after the other listening to the same song trying to find the best balance. The first one was extremely bright, I remember that.

Still shopping for a nice subwoofer, then I'll probably have to try all the profiles again.

How do we find the member list so we can keep up with the count?

How can we spread the word for owners to register at this forum? I don't know anyone else who own this radio. Could anyone official contact Crutchfield and get a list of those who bought the radio and then try to get a hold of these owners and try to get them to subscribe. I too want to get the specific profile for my car.

Most of the custom profiles are for 2006-2008 model year vehicles. In some cases the differences between, say 2008 to 2009 is huge (Honda Civic, just ask RCopt) and for others it makes very little difference. If Toyota didn't change the actual speaker driver model from 1997 to 2006 (doubtful) then the custom Camry profile will sound pretty close. However, any one of the beta profiles may sound much better!

Yea.... I had an '06 Civic which I had a profile for. I turned it in for an '09 and the old profile just doesn't work for it. I have the Generic loaded now, and it's by far the best sounding. Clearly, Honda changed the speaker model they were using. As Joey has said numerous times... play with loading a bunch of different profiles and use your ears to determine what works best.

I just got one of the last units form crutchfield and installed it on my old '92 Mazda truck with 4-4" on factory location, 4-6.5" on the doors, two tweeters on the doors and two 8" bazookas behind the seats with amps and crossover...hellya it sound amazing, I'm sure there will be no specific profile for my daug but once i got some blanks cds I will start the testing with the available profiles....

Just joined here. I have a 09 Camry SE. Running KDS 100 with factory speakers and the difference in sound is dramatic! I am using the VAR 03 beta and it sounds awesome! Can't wait to upgrade the speakers. Looking forward to trying a profile for the 09 Camry

Actually, custom profiles were only created for 2006-2008 vehicles in the list. However, you are welcome to try a profile for a similar vehicle. If the speakers are the same make and model then the results can be quite good. You will only know if you try. This should be pretty easy since I'm releasing all of the custom profiles today!
