hi joey;
as far as i know, repair permissions are re-setting the permissions of the system default folders by some sort of manifestation. i've tried to re-create the problem, buy removing the permissions i've added manually and also removed the profiles, and successfully re-created the problem. also tried the repair permissions trick but at least in my machine, it had no effect. My assumption is, maybe, you guys assumed that most of the users using administrator accounts, so its not an issue :) but I am not using my root :)
so for now, if anyone have such similar problem I will try to describe below, can use this work around:
Effected Software: Bongiovi DPS iTunes Plugin (v1.1 and 1.2 tested)
Problem Description: while using the update inside the dps plugin settings, unable to download the profiles available in the internet. when user presses the get button for a very brief moment some messages appears in the message box area, but no data transfer happens. to check; users can control whether the desired profile has been downloaded via the drop down menu.
Reason: user has insufficient rights to create/modify inside the folder /Library/Application Support/Bongiovi Acoustics
Work Around: Adding required RW rights to the folder manually works.
To do that, navigate the folder by using finder. "Get Info" of the folder, unlock the pane via the lock on the right bottom corner, and then by using the small + under the Sharing & Permissions pane, add the desired user with Read & Write privilege to the folder
Possible Solution: moving the profile storage area to the ~/Library/Application Support/Bongiovi Acoustics instead of /Library solves the problem.
