I am starting this thread for our testers to post any functional issues with Mac SW beta builds. These issues may include:
1) Unexpected behavior
2) GUI interface glitches
3) Errors
4) Features that do not work properly
5) activation/de-activation problems
6) profile download problems
When reporting an issue please include your version of OSX, the beta version number you are testing and the steps you took to reproduce the issues.

Mac SW Beta version-3.....
I have an external bluetooth wirelessly connected Bose speaker, when I turn the bluetooth from the speaker on to connect to the computer, it turns off the Mac SW beta DPS plugin, and if I am running the speaker again wirelessly through bluetooth and I turn on the Mac SW Beta, it turns off the speaker?

I have passed these to support, but will now use this forum for feedback. (sorry for the confusion, but I thought we were supposed to send them via email to support). Anyway, here are my first two "issue" reports - for the record.

Posted earlier yesterday: Well I have started experiencing my first few probe (nothing major) in Mac SW Beta. First, I have it set to launch upon start up, but the menu bar shows it off. ("Turn DPS On"). Second, when I select to turn it on, it works, but then I get an echo. Oddly enough, the echo goes away if I click the "b" icon several times. Second, today (for the first time) when I turned it on, it locked up iTunes and no sound at all. I "force quit" iTunes and restarted and all worked fine. Soooo that's something I'll try to watch and see if it replicates. However, the fabulous system-wide application is such a pleasure and I am thoroughly enjoying it (even with these few glitches).

Posted yesterday evening: Well, three times today upon booting up my iMac, DPS did not launch on startup, even though I have "launch on startup" checked in the preferences and it appears on the toolbar with "Turn DPS on". If I select to turn it on and iTunes is open, it locks up and nothing works. After force quitting iTunes if ti select to turn DPS on, then reload iTunes all works. Soooooo, there is an issue!!!!!!
Thanks, vpasq! Keep the feedback coming here if it is easier. Either way we get it. We enjoy seeing the discussions and we get a better feel for the severity of complaints when everyone weighs in.

I love this product. I haven't read the other posts yet to see if this happened before, but this small issue happened while using Version 3.
When using Airplay I noticed that the music didn't sync right. The Airplay device would start playing first then iTunes about 3 seconds later. - A restart of DPS would fix it it.
Same with Youtube or Quicktime videos. The sound would lag behind the video. - Restarting DPS helped that too.

I've been using DPS on my iPhone, and WAS using it on iTunes until it stopped working with the latest versions. I found the beta link here on the forum and downloaded it, after filling out the survey. I'm not sure if I'm an "official" beta tester, or got in through the back door. In any case, I'm unable to activate through the prefs pane. I've tried my DPS store login, as well as the one I set up here just today. Error messages in both cases. Also, the plugin stops working after a while (maybe a function of not being activated?). I have to quit and restart the app, then turn it on again.
The plugin itself is terrific — when it works. My problem, which I haven't seen others mentioning, is a sudden glitch that then turns into a crescendo of feedback. Has anybody else reported this? What's the cure? Might be worth mentioning that I also have Audio Hijack installed, though not turned on.
Finally — I use Bose QC2 headphones. I picked the QC15 as my default, but the result is waaaaay too much bass, with everything else in the background.

I just installed the System Wide beta. SO far I'm looking @ a 1% success rate. It shows up in the System Prefs under tthe Sound setting. However, when I select it there are no controls or anything. And... when I play music or a video I get NO sound. Any suggestions?
@japanScott1 - Are you sure the actual DPS application is running? The System Wide plugin works by accepting sound into the DPS Reflector driver you see in the Sound window in System Prefs. The audio then goes to the Digital Power Station app. It should be in your Applications folder. You choose the output you want from the menu in the DPS application.
If you choose the DPS Reflector output without the DPS application running, there will be no sound. Let me know if you have some success. Thanks!
@woid - I added a Mac SW activation to your account. You may use your normal email and password to activate the Mac SW plugin.
Also, the next beta build will not require activation. We know the activation mechanism works so there is no need to test it further. We want more of you to have full unrestricted functionality so we can work out the main issues.

And speaking of feedback... Still getting a crescendo of slapback at unpredictable times. Have to turn DPS off & then on again. Makes it basically unusable until this gets fixed.
Thanks for the activation, that solves the other problems I had. But the feedbackbackbackbackBackBackBACKBACK...!!!

Greetings Joey, as mentioned elsewhere, I also have the plugin set for startup but it does not turn itself on, I manually turn it on each time.
Also still having issues with the bluetooth connectivity and my Bose Soundlink external bluetooth connected speaker, if I turn the DPS plugin on, then turn my speaker on when it connects via bluetooth, the DPS plugin turns off, if I turn it on, then it turns off the bluetooth connected external speaker

Gotcha. It seems like a clash of automatic output driver selection logic between DPS and Bluetooth devices. What if you do this:
1) Connect the Bluetooth device (its output should show in Sound Prefs)
2) Launch DPS.
3) Enable DPS. This will switch the default output to DPS Reflector in Sound Prefs.
4) Select the Bluetooth device in the Output menu in the DPS Preference Page.
Let me know if this works.

New BIG PROBLEM!!!! Today the DPS icon disappeared from my menu bar and in settings (preferences) it was not selected as the default output. I selected it and it turns off my sound completely. I re-booted but again it does not appear on the menu bar. I then re-installed it, which went without a hitch, but still no icon on the menu bar. I re-booted (again), still no icon on the menu bar and when I checked settings, it was again defaulted to the resident speakers, not the DPS reflector. If I select the DPS reflector it kills my system sound. Not sure why this happened all of a sudden since it has been working until today, with the exception of the problem of having to manually turn it on each time at the menu icon, but today NO ICON!!!!!!! BTW, how do you remove it for a clean install???

Rather then put off your request of me to check the connectivity issue with the blue-tooth connected speaker, I did perform the steps you outlined, and can report that it was successful, the blue-tooth stayed connected. When I reselected the built-in -output with in the output device pane, it turned the blue tooth speaker off by itself again, so I turned off the DPS plugin, turned off the blue-tooth speaker and turned the DPS plugin back on, keeping the built in-output of the notebook internal speakers of the output device pane.

Not showing up in my menu as it did before?
I would like to say that the system wide DPS is excellent and I do appreciate the quality of sound. What I find is that it registers at a lower volume level than does the original iTunes specific DPS addition, which is better for tuning with the iTunes equalizer and SR iWOW and Hear all set and all on at the same time. With this combination of sound adjustment from these various plug in app additions the sound enhancement I'm getting is beyond phenomenal, it's as if it's so good it should be illegal to hear and enjoy such quality in sound. The SW DPS brings it all together perfectly, whereas the iTunes direct DPS addition, although great, overpowers all of the other settings, and it has no volume range control, to make it fit in perfectly as the System Wide DPS does. I was listening to an album of a live performance and I could hear crystal perfect sound of high hats, tambourines, bass and drum sticks along with even the pure sound bass beat of the foot petal on the foot drum. Violins sound better than a Stradivarius or close. I'm amazed with the performance, but ever since I upgraded my Hear app tonight, the SW DPS isn't showing in the menu, yet it's still listed in my sound preferences, yet that's not the setting I use to place the sound through my usb attached external speakers.
Please solve this mystery for me, and for anyone else who's having any difficulties. Thank you Randy

I too have had the beta DPS Sys Wide Plugin disappear.
It was working fine yesterday but disappeared from my menu bar.
When I tried launching the app from the apps folder nothing happens.
I un-installed, re-dowloaded, re-installed all to no avail.
When it was working it was great!
What should I try now?
Let me check what the expiration date for this build is. Since everyone is having trouble at the same time perhaps that is the problem. I believe we have an internal build of the app I can distribute until the next official beta release is available. I will get back with you on this.
Also, keep in mind the DPS Reflector output only routes audio to the DPS app. If the DPS app is not running (the icon appearing in the menu bar) then you will have no sound when you select the DPS Reflector as the output.
Think of the Mac System Wide plugin as having two separate components; The DPS Reflector and the DPS application.
Currently, turning DPS "ON" automatically selects the DPS Reflector as the output for the computer. You then select what output you would like to hear audio from via the menu in the DPS app. When you turn DPS "OFF" the output is returned to the last selected output (usually Built-In). If you are using multiple System Wide audio apps (Hear, Boom SRS etc.) you must be keenly aware of your audio driver signal flow. This would be a non-standard setup but it should work. However we can't be responsible for this not working due to another developer's design.
If anyone has questions about how this works please ask! I am writing the manuals for this app so I want to be sure the functionality is clear for everyone.

Is there a way to manually load the DPS app????? I can't find it anywhere, and it only used to load upon startup because that's what I had selected in the preferences, but it never turned on, I had to do that manually (which of course you know has been previously reported).
I've confirmed the beta expiration date is today. Sorry about that! There is no way around this besides setting your system clock back. ;) Normally we would have a new build sooner but with travel and holidays and such development is a bit slower. The next build has a bunch of nice features and improvements so bear with us.

No apology necessary Joey - we are sooooooo anxious to see this come to life and for those of us who are lucky enough to experience the "beta" in advance, well its really a trade off that we will have to just be patient. I am ready for the next round and can't wait to see it when we get to final stage. Thanks for the prompt response se we can quit "tinkering" unnecessarily.

Something that I discovered simply by accident is that in the iTunes preferences you will find an operable action called - iTunes sound enhancer - this destroys any virtue that having an additional app sound equalizer or externally operated sound enhancer. It flattens out all definition and destroys all sound space where you wish notes to linger and breath on their own melodically. Once turned off the sound is phenomenal, a dash of adjustment here and there to accommodate your listening environment and you're in your own personal sound heaven. So turn off that iTunes Sound enhancer and start enjoying your music with a set of fresh new ears.
Can't wait for the System Wide DPS, I'm glad that the problem with its disappearing has been discovered as a time line issue.
