Howdy - just bought a 2011 4Runner 'upgrade' package... the 8 speaker stereo. The guys at Toyota had never heard of the audio upgrade in the press release... can you tell me a bit about it? How much $$$, does it work in my 4Runner, and does it plug in somewhere or how does it install? Can I do it myself?

The DPS module connects to the speaker outputs of the existing radio, performs the DPS processing on that signal then re-amplifies it to the existing stock speakers.
Each car has a different mounting point so I don't know if can be done outside of the dealership. I'll request a list of cars it is scheduled to be released with and will post it here shortly.
The Toyota/DPS car audio upgrade is available only in Canada at the moment. Toyota Canada was instrumental in helping us develop the DPS Module http://media.toyota.ca/pr/tci/en/the-audio-revolution-starts-here-172121.aspx?link_page_rss=172121 and therefore has launched this revolutionary system first. Check out Toyota Canada's site http://www.toyota.ca for a vehicle list and pricing---if its not posted yet it will be very soon. The launch officially starts Oct 1.
In the interim, you have a few options: 1) be patient, you have something to look forward to. 2) tell your local Toyota dealer you need the DPS upgrade. 3) (For all you non-Canadians out there) grab your passport and---- ROAD TRIP!!!

Sorry friday, the DPS module for Toyota vehicles is still only available in Canada, but should be out in the US in early December.

I'm in Canada... my dealer is Heartland Toyota in Williams Lake. They look at me funny when I ask about the 'Bon Jovi' upgrade... and I'm sure next time I go for an oil change they are going to put maple syrup in my motor because they think I'm crazy.
Can you at least tell me if it's available for the 2010/11 4Runner SR5 Upgrade package? Then I can let them know to do some more checking.

Ok here is the official Toyota part number for the DPS Module it is P/N: PU47A-BNG04-DP. This should help them understand what you are looking for friday.

So I understand what you have posted about a delayed release in the US, but have a few other questions-
Will the DPS be available for the Toyota Venza?
Will it replace the JBL amplifier in "JBL Synthesis" equipped vehicles?
What is the expected US MSRP and will the unit be available to purchase directly from Bongiovi? (avoiding dealer rip off pricing)

Yes, the DPS module will be available for the Toyota Venza and for most Toyota vehicles.
Toyota is launching DPS as an audio upgrade, starting with the entry-level audio packages. They have not launched DPS as an upgrade to the JBL package. The DPS module is designed to provide studio-quality sound without any external amplifiers or speakers.
Bongiovi Acoustics does not set MSRP or product distribution---Toyota handles that.
Stay tuned and we will keep you up to date on the US release dates as soon as we have them.
