On Dec. 13, there was a DPS version 1.2 update for iOS, which I have installed on my iPhone 4S. Is there anything significant in this release?

Last night I upgraded my I Pad application and as a result the following happened. All music seems OK, but videos are listed but when I select one, a blank page results. When I re-sync, the IPad indicates the correct memory. Any ideas or similar experience. ThankYou. Joe O.

Jim, the changes to 1.2 are bug fixes and memory optimizations as well as new headphone profiles for our partners Dolce Vita.
Joe, do any of your videos play after the re-sync?

Just tried a few minutes ago and no videos responded. Joe O.

Ok. We have a build in the works that fixes the bug fixes lol. I'll test this issue with the new version when I get it. And you are certain these videos played in the last version?

Hi Joey:
This may not be relevant but, as I reported previously, music videos don't play on my iPhone. There are 2 issues that I know of. First, when I select Videos within the DPS app, I get the message "No videos were found in your photo library. You can sync videos from your iPhoto Library via iTunes". I don't understand the reference to a photo library when I'm trying to play a video. Second, I can play videos 2 different ways, either by clicking on the Apple Videos app or by using the Apple Music app. With DPS, I can select a video from within an album, and DPS plays the music, but it gives a static video image. As I said originally, I don't know if DPS does this by design or if it's a bug.
After applying the 1.2 update, I tried it again and got the same results.

This is all related to the Apple Digital Rights Management restrictions. All music videos and movies from Apple have DRM but their music does not (as of 2003 or so). The Bongiovi DPS app can only play videos that are located in your photo library. When you connect your device to your PC it is the folder that appears that has all of the pictures you have taken in it. You may add non-DRM videos that are Apple iOS compatible (Quicktime H264 is best) to this folder and the Bongiovi DPS app can play them. They will appear in the Camera Roll on your device. As third party developers we are not allowed to access the Movie library on the device.
We have done our best to have as much video functionality as possible within these restrictions.

Yes, I played them most recently when I went East and only took my I Pad. As I said the Videos are listed but when I select I get a blank on all videos.

Hi Joey:
Thanks for the explanation. This is a confusing topic, but the bottom line seems to be that iOS handles this differently from a PC (Windows, at least). On my PC, I can copy, play, or essentially do whatever I want with a video file which was purchased from iTunes. I copied a video into my pictures library, then synched it with my iPhone. The video is on the iPhone, but DPS doesn't find it in my pictures library. I get a video count of 0. As Arte Johnson of Laugh In would say "Verrrry interesting, but dumb)! Looks like we need a "system wide" DPS app for iOS (just kidding). :-)

I do use IPhoto to transfer videos and had no problem before the recent DPS upgrade. Thanks for any comments. joe O.

We have indeed discovered there is an issue with accessing the video library on some devices. A new build that fixes this and a few other things should be submitted to Apple today for approval.
