I know this is old, but the original problem the OP had was using an SDHC. SDHC uses a completely different block size and is not backwards compatible with SD card devices.

Any 1GB or less card is guaranteed to work. 2GB and 4GB cards should work if you can find them(4GB is exceedingly rare for plain SD). I use a 2GB in mine with no problems.

"Standard-SD cards (non-SDHC) with greater than 1 GB capacity

The SD Card Association's current specifications define how a standard SD (non-SDHC) card with more than 1 GB and up to 4 GB capacity should be designed. These cards should be readable in any SD 1.01 devices that take the block length data into account. Any 1 GB or lesser card should always work (so the key question is how one's reader handles block length).

According to the specification,[20] the maximum capacity of a standard SD card is defined by (BLOCKNR × BLOCK_LEN), where BLOCKNR may be (4,096 × 512) and BLOCK_LEN may be up to 2,048. This allows a capacity of 4 GB. The main problem is that some of the card readers support only a block (or, sector) size of 512 bytes, so greater than 1 GB non-SDHC cards may cause compatibility difficulties for users of such devices."

i'm using a 1gb Transcend card, no problems except it holds about 800mb of .mp3 format but, I created a folder and add another 150mb. Sound Is superior and 1 of the best features.

Lol! Really guys, I just use an el cheapo 2GB usb drive that is very low profile and doesn't stick out too much. I really don't use the SD card slot at all. I have the KD-S100 in my Hyundai Tucson and have been using the line-in port mostly. I keep my tunes on my phone. Wish I could help out more...Bongiovi Acoustics designed the DPS audio processing in that unit and we really did not have anything to do with the rest of the architecture of the radio. Hit JVC up for that!

rock on...

Really... Waffle, the SD works just fine (maybe) but you want me to have this big USB thing sticking out of the radio so someone can break one of the window (for flash drive that costs a few bucks) and steal everything from the truck, when I forget it the one time... you obvously live on a much smaller island than I, much closer to a mainland... Are you gonna figure out how to ship a new window and figure out how to match the tint???
The keyword was "useful" in my statement...

Just one person uses a bigger SD card???? Thanks Bobby...

Joey B.... hook a brother up... come on man, don't be stingy with your love.................

Blessings to all...

I don't use SD-Cards in mine, but why don't you just try plugging a flash drive into the usb slot on the front?

On the KDS-100, I know that the SD card is suppose to max out at 512mb or 2gb, depending on where you read... yeah... yeah... yeah... thats suppose to be BS, others have said they are using 2gb and 4gb...

The KDS-100 is suppose to be "very picky" on which cards it takes... Now I have tried Sandisk 4gb micro SDHC (with the adapter) and it dosen't like it... Which cards dose it seem to like?

Please don't tell me just keep tring different ones... I live on a very small US island in the middle of the Pacific and the nearest Wal-mart is like 4000 miles away and $1200 plane ticket and the nearest K-mart is like over 100 miles and a $300 plane ticket... and thing are very expensive here on island, so I have to find someone that ships here... and if you feel indifferent about posting and actual name brand, can you at least give me a hint, Please!!!

Any useful information will be greatly appreciated... Thank you and have a blessed day...
Romeo
