You make a lot of really good points, Simon!

So far there has yet to be an audio device we have not been able to improve with the DPS Technology. It's funny that most of the requests we receive for custom profiles are the high end devices! The Shure SE530's are a good example. Those earbuds really do sound amazing and by finding their resonant frequency we were able to clean them up nicely. However, the DPS really shines at taking a modestly priced audio device up to the level that these high end devices perform. The Skull Candy and JVC headphones, the iHome Capsule Speakers and the Apple earbuds show an AMAZING improvement with the DPS Plug-In. Our thinking was with an inexpensive plugin and inexpensive speakers a user can still have great sound.
Folks like yourselves (and Charlie at http://www.themacfeed.com who requested the SE530 profile) put us to the test with the high end requests, but hey, we'll take the challenge! Our only issue is getting a hold on some of these more exotic devices as we do most of the profile creation by ear and it can get expensive quickly if we have to buy them ourselves.

Don't worry about us creating profiles though! I'm a studio guy (and a drummer) and the other engineers who create profiles are also studio guys like yourself who love doing this. Our application developers have their hands full and they are the ones working on the next release. The audio engineers here work on usability and SOUND!

As far as a dev kit goes, I'd love to see it. But all of our software is proprietary and fairly complex so it's not in the cards at the moment. Doesn't mean it can't happen though ;)

In the mean time, I'll see if we can get our hands on some Grado's...

cheers,
Joe

Hi! I purchased the iTunes plug-in, after trying it out with my Shure SR530s, very impressive stuff to say the least. I'm quite curious as to how (in detail, being a software engineer and musician) this technology works, i'm guessing you don't want to disclose that sort of information, fair enough. However, I also own a pair a Grado RS1s open-rear full-size headphones, and i'm sure a custom profile could help them gain some soundstage since none of the available ones target hardware remotely similar to these cans. I'm guessing that this profile would fit the RS2s larger brother, the RS1s, quite well, since they sound very alike on every single rig i've tries them on. Anyhow, congrats on this release, and you should in my opinion release a development kit of sorts so people like me could write their own profiles, and even share them with the world, so you guys could work on making a awesome new release instead of building dozens of profiles targeting only very few customers.

Cheers.
