We've made a plethora of new profiles available in both versions of the DPS Plug-In! Here is some info:

New Cities Profiles

Each application of DPS has it's own personality and iOS is no exception. The audio properties of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch have given us the opportunity to refine our profile creation philosophies. These profiles, originally created for iPod docks, have many nice properties on other devices. They are available at the bottom of the list in the iTunes Plug-In and in the Cities category for Desktop speakers in the Windows Plug-In (Advanced Profile Browser). Try them all! They are quite tasty.

New Custom Headphone Profiles

Urbanears Plattan
Zagg SmartBuds
Tune A Fish "No Blasting!" headphones for kids
Kidz Gear Wired headphones for kids
Bose Quiet Comfort headphones
Maximo iM-390 earbuds
Skull Candy INK'd earbuds

Voice Chat Profiles

We've been doing some experiments with Skype and video/voice conferencing using the Windows DPS Plug-In. We have added a few more options under the "Communications" category in the Profile Browser. The DPS Plug-In is excellent for bringing out voice clarity during chat. This is especially true during chat sessions with multiple people such as within World of Warcraft guilds and corporate conference calls. All participants in the chat session have equal volume and clarity when using DPS. We will be posting a video shortly outlining the setup for this.

Let us know what you think!

Those of you that have used VolumeLogic, check out this DPS Plug-In users advice:

*****

PERPLEX We all know that VolumeLogic is out of the software business. So I was searching for a replacement. I compared the DPS Plugin with VolumeLogic and heard an even greater difference. The sound remastering is way better then VolumeLogic or any other plugin. It's is amazing and a must if you care about sound.

Thanks for the request!

For the benefit of our users who may also have these headphones, let us know what profile you think sounds best until we can get a custom one out there. I would think the Able Planet, the Bose NC, Sony or the Bright headphone profiles may sound good with these cans. Give them a shot and let us know.

Also, if one of our existing profiles sounds very close but needs a little tweak we would be happy to make the change and make it available!

Thanks for the great review!

In regards to the profiles, the reason we use the term "Universal" is each profile can have a radically different effect for different devices. While "Universal 2" may make your headphones sound amazing it could have the opposite effect for a different brand. Also, if you like to switch between "Universal 2" for more bass and "Universal 3" for classical music that relationship will also be different for different devices. I did post a Universal Profile "key" in the DPS Plug-In topic but that is also more of a guideline. http://www.dpsinsider.com/forums/topic/universal-profile-key Its all about YOUR ears!

As far as the demo version goes, can I get some more details about your experience with that? It seems to be working properly on my laptop (the ten minute expiration). Keep in mind the DPS Plug-In demo can be re-activated by shutting down iTunes and restarting.

I have been using the DPS for about a week now through iTunes and I wanted to share my thoughts on the product.

I listen to a lot of electronic music through my Seinheisser high quality headphones. When I switched on the DPS the difference was immediate. I could hear so many sounds that I couldn't before.. Tons of sound effects which were 'muffled' or hidden before now come across very clearly.. It allows me to appreciate the artists music so much more because I can hear the subtle hints that really change the listening experience.

Not to mention, the bass and treble are much more balanced together now.. and the bass itself is much more powerful (depending on the preset selected).

Its hard to switch back to 'normal' listening after switching to DPS.. hopefully we can get this improved sound on all our applications besides iTunes.

Things I would like to see improved:
- Each preset within headphones/speakers/built-in should have a description of the kind of sound they produce (instead of 'Universal') so I can get a better idea of which preset works best for my particular tastes
-I noticed in the demo version, that even after it expired I could still listen to music with the DPS enabled... seems that it doesn't shut off the DPS once the demo expires - this needs to be checked out!

So, the Digital Power Station Plug-In for iTunes is launched. It's extremely powerful and customizable in its ability to have many different profiles for speakers and headphones as well as separate variations for music and movies. It already contains a wealth of profiles for the speakers built into the various models of Mac computers as well as Universals for different headphones, speakers, and earbuds, and even some profiles for specific devices, but I'm curious.... what kinds of third party speakers and headphones are you all using? Do you use different listening devices for different situations? Do you have a pair of "studio-grade" headphones or do you rock out on your iPod earbuds? Maybe you went out and purchased a pair of earbuds with a color scheme to be a cool fashion accessory as well as a listening device. How many of you have noise-canceling headphones? The more we know about your individual needs, the better we can customize and optimize your experience.

Man, Rob, what you guys need to work with is something like this HP Bluetooth Pendant. I love it, and I can hook almost anything to it. My main issue is the lack of power. Luckily, I have a lot of amped up equipment, but for a typical user, the sound is probably lackluster. This one looks different, but has the same SKU as mine. Mine has a square face button that allows me to skip songs and change the volume. This thing recognizes my phone and will play music from it, I can keep the satellite radio in one spot hear it anywhere; it is just an all around good thingie. P.S. I didn't purchase from Best Buy; there are better prices.
