Hi gang, I am a little late to the party, but have the latest build and so far I think it's working great. I assume that I should turn the iTunes plugin off while using the beta, yes?

So glad you are bringing DPS to the whole Mac system!!! Double awesome.

I will be in Asia Nov 28 - Dec 10 so I won't be adding new Mac SW activations during that time. While I'm away, please email support@bmtdps.com to request a Mac SW activation after you have finished the beta survey. Thanks!

Here are the details:

1) Fill out the beta entry survey to receive the download link: https://app.icontact.com/icp/sub/survey/start?sid=1062&cid=842582
2) We will check the emails each day from the beta survey list. Everyone who currently has a DPS Plug-In activation will receive an activation for Mac SW. Activating Mac SW allows the use of the Profile Browser.
3) Each beta build will have an expiration date.
4) Please email all beta feedback to support@bmtdps.com
5) I will be constructing the Help/FAQ pages here: http://www.dpsplugin.com/help/doku.php?id=mac_help
This is where I will post known issues, future features etc. as we progress through beta.
6) We are organizing all bugs, suggestions and usability feedback in our own issue tracker. Please be as specific and detailed as possible when giving feedback! We need to be able to make every item very clear and precise to our developer.
7) Feedback like "The profiles don't work" doesn't help us. Please give us as much information as possible such as any errors that popped up, the steps we need to take to replicate the issue etc.
8) Feedback like "The menus are ugly, change them" also doesn't help us. Tell us what you think could make it better. If you can supply an example from some other source please show us.

I'll keep this updated as we move forward.

Sorry for not being clearer on this. I'm still working on all of the documentation.

In order to keep things organized, we are going to be adding activations manually for each beta tester. That is why you have to give your email at the end of the survey. We will go through the survey database and add activations regularly.

At the moment the rule is if you already have a DPS activation you will get a beta activation without questions. If you are new to DPS and want in on the beta, you must email me and explain why I should give you a free plugin! The funnier your request, the more likely you will get a free activation. My email is xaqmusic@bmtdps.com. :-P

conturbia,

Thanks for the dxdiag output. It looks like the problem lies with what language Windows is set to. The last two machines that had the "DPS Driver Not Found" error were set to Italian and Japanese.

Please try setting your display language to English. Here are the directions I found online:

How to change the Windows 7 Display Language:

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region / Change the display language
2. Switch the display language in the Choose a display language dropdown menu.
3. Click OK
4. Log off for the changes to take effect (This will affect only the user profile under which you are currently logged on).

After setting the language to English, reboot then try installing DPS.

This issue has been eluding us. If this works we should be able to make a new version that addresses multiple languages. Thanks!

I've had this problem as well. Check your playback devices in Windows. You should have a speaker icon in your system tray. Right click on it and open Playback devices. Look at your speaker devices and see if Digital Power Station is enabled. If it's disabled, you won't see it unless you have selected the Show Disabled Devices option, which can be selected by a right click in the Playback window. Digital Power Station should be enabled and set as the Default Device. When it's the default device, you'll see a green check mark. You can enable/disable and make it the default device by right clicking on its icon. You'll also need to set a Default Communication Device, which will be your sound card. When it's set as the default communication device, it will show a green telephone icon. This tells Windows to send output from the Digital Power Station to your sound card.

This procedure is for Windows 7. If you're running something older, like XP, the procedure will be different and you'll have to experiment with its sound settings.

Hmmmmm. There have been a few cases where this has not been resolved on certain systems. It's one of the few remaining issues we have. Could you please email us your dxdiag report? Here is how you do it:

1) Click the Start Menu
2) In the Search for Programs (Win 7) or Run (XP) box type: dxdiag
3) Hit enter to run dxdiag.exe
4) Click "Save All Information" at the bottom of the dxdiag window that opened.
5) A Dxdiag.txt file will appear on your desktop. Please email it to support@bmtdps.com. Don't worry, this file only contains information related to your system setup. It will not be shared with anyone.

Thanks for your help!

This is usually caused by some other application using the Windows audio system while you are trying to install the DPS Plug-In. I suggest:

1) Un-Install the DPS Plug-In using the uninstaller in the Start Menu under Bongiovi Acoustics/Digital Power Station
2) Reboot
3) Check your system tray to see what is running after startup (click the triangle icon at the bottom right of Windows near the volume control).
4) Exit Skype, iTunes, anti-virus software or anything else that may be touching the audio drivers.
5) Reinstall version 1.1.0. This is a final release.

Let me know how it goes!

I installed it and put in my activation key and it was working perfect all day and then the next morning when i started the computer my computer turn on and said DPS ON THIS COMPUTER IS NO LONGER ACTIVATED.

This is the new issue that has been introduced now that we bind the output driver to the output category (built-in/desktop/headphones). The latest version has been built with a small delay to allow Windows to keep up with the possible rapid change of output drivers. Download it here: http://www.dpsplugin.com/download/download.php?platform=2 and let me know if you still get the crash. If so, after re-starting DPS, does it still happen?

Well, it's progress! I wonder if that laptop stores default playback drivers in reference to certain windows applications. It's important that each program knows/recognizes that it should be using Digital Power Station as the default playback device.

So is it 0.1.0b12 that you installed? Some issues we have run into within the beta program due to various versions being installed can be solved this way:

1) quit DPS by right clicking the icon in the system tray and choosing quit
2) open Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs
3) There may be two versions of DPS in the list if a version prior to b10 was not un-installed. That was when we switched to the new installer. The new installer will show the version number in the Programs list. If this is your case un-install then version without the version number via this panel.
4) Now open your Start Menu and go to Bongiovi Acoustics. The new installer includes an un-installer here. Run that and you should have a nice clean system.
5) Visit this link to get the latest version: http://www.dpsplugin.com/download/download.php?platform=2

That's right, its in the store!

This means we are nearly out of beta. I really want to thank all of the beta testers for their hard work, time and effort put into helping us make the DPS Plug-In for Windows great!

Hey Joey! It's Scott in Denver. I just installed the latest greatest version on my laptop and it ONLY works on youtube, Applian Freecorder 4, and any sound coming through the web browser (Firefox 4.0). It doesn't work through Windows Mediaplayer, or Adobe Audition. Problem being I use Windows Mediaplayer for pretty much EVERYTHING I listen to.

I went through all the steps we went over on the phone and everything checks out from an install situation. I was installing on a fresh reboot and no programs running except the install program, then a reboot. I can hear the test tones when I test both the DPS as the default device and the regular speaker driver. The system just refuses to route ALL sound through the DPS.

Hi , I have just upgraded to Beta 12 so no problems on upgrading. I restarted no problems then I went to setup my profiles and the application crashed ,it was a one time crash for now. Windows showed me the crash dump files and I've zipped them if they are in any use?

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\Simeon\AppData\Local\Temp\WERA84F.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Simeon\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD337.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Simeon\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD3F3.tmp.mdmp

Other thing I've noticed is that when I click from the main window the preference button there is a little sound glitch. Other than that works great and it brings joy in the quality as on my mac thanks.

Simeon.

Excellent! Now that the plugin is functioning well we will be turning our focus towards delivering profiles and the interaction with our server. Just be sure to fill out the beta survey and let us know what profiles or variations on profiles you would like to hear: https://app.icontact.com/icp/sub/survey/start?sid=470&cid=842582
