Well, it's a good thing the System Wide version is almost ready! :-) The Windows version is first out of the gate then Macintosh. And it is so very tasty!!! I'd love to give release dates but you know how that goes. It's not coming out until we feel it is completely ready.

Since it is an iTunes plugin it lives in the system folders. It is not a stand alone application. The profiles are in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Bongiovi Acoustics. The plugin itself is in HD/Library/Audio/Plugins/HAL.

I want my DPS for everything! The entire system. I watch Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, play games. I really miss the sound improvements.

I know it's possible to get in to the system audio as the BassJump(tm) guys did it for their product.

Please oh please!

Our activations licenses will actually continue to stay the same price at $29.99 (along with coupon codes and volume discounts). Activation licenses you currently own will allow you to activate any of the aforementioned new products on your computer of choice. As you may know it is easy to manage your account by logging into http://www.dpsplugin.com There you can see what computers you have activated so deactivating a computer to free up a license is simple.

In short, those of you who are currently using the DPS Plug-In for iTunes (mac) will not pay a penny to upgrade!

P.S. There is already a profile for the Z series Logitech speaker systems! It rocks!

That's Awesome! I'm not sure what you'd be able to say about a price point for the windows version yet but i am very excited for it. I was also wondering if you are working on or even still have a linux version planned... just wondering. and a profile for the Logitech Speaker System Z323 would be wonderfully amazing. for when i do buy the windows version.

Well, I did find out that we are currently developing for iOS. I can't really say much more about it but I can say jailbreaking won't be necessary to enjoy DPS in the application(s) involved.

Also, while I'm feeding the rumors here are a few other tender morsels:

1) The DPS for Windows is now being tested. And it is NOT an iTunes plugin! It will work on all audio for your PC.
2) A full-system audio DPS for mac is also in testing.
3) You will be able to create/edit profiles in the future

That's it for now!

I'm experiencing a new issue with the DPS plugin preferences screen. When I open preferences window it appears grayed out so clicking on the tabs, e.g. Downloads, does nothing. This was working fine up until about a week ago. I'm sure there is a simple fix, but I've not been able find as of yet.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've done some research into this and I have a conclusion:

Don't alter the original files!

Sorry to go back on my original suggestion but here's why:
1) if there is any DRM (digital rights management) for a song or album you won't be able to easily access those songs without first removing the DRM. This can be done by burning a CD then ripping it again. What a pain!
2) So now you've altered a bunch of songs to sound great on a certain set of speakers. What if those speakers break and you get new ones of a different brand? You better be ready to repeat the whole process with the backups you hopefully made.
3) Changing each song's original data will take a long time.
4) It's not worth the data management nightmare.
5) There are more reasons but why go into it?

This is my humble opinion of course! This is why the DPS works in real-time, constantly making adjustments to the audio stream to optimize your audio device based on it's hardware profile. You hear immediate results and nothing is permanent. A much easier solution!

I hope to see our DPS technology appear everywhere that sound is generated so that folks like yourselves are not left in the audio "dark" so to speak. Perhaps you may be able to find a JVC KD-S100 for your car? This radio has our DPS technology inside and will do exactly what you are looking for.

I recently purchased a new machine and sold my previous one. I was unaware DPS needed to be deactivated to do so. I sent a message to support via the website form on Friday and haven't had any luck, so i thought i'd give the forums a shot.

I strongly suggest changing how this process works, as it's incredibly frustrating. Adobe's products have a similar mechanism, however they allow you to deactivate licenses from their website without getting a support person involved.

Thanks!

"5) Can I use the DPS Plug-In on my iPhone, iTouch or iPad?

Unfortunately Apple will not allow developers to process the audio stream from iTunes on the iPhone or its other mobile devices. We know the DPS would be a killer app for the iPhone! Maybe if they get enough feedback about this they will change their mind? *hint hint*"

Hey CTaztec! I am one of the music writers for the site here. Very cool post! I will check out some of the music you mentioned for sure. I think all of the DPS team here are pretty open minded musically. I for one like a lot of the type of stuff you mentioned. Especially the electronic chill vibe. Big fan of Massive Attack, Portishead, Underworld, Air...Stuff like that. At the same time...I really enjoy a lot of chill indie folk and rock stuff. Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Jose Gonzalez. So I am kind of all over the place musically. The way to be I think. I am glad you are enjoying the DPS Plug In. Take care!

All sorts….

I lived (and studied) in the USA for 12 years. Back then I got hooked into American rock music very quickly, although I have US / UK iTunes for archives I suppose today, living in South Africa yet constantly traveling to Europe / US my taste is somewhat very different!

Without access to US iTunes I would never have come across the Dutch DJ, Armin van Buuren. I am by no means a "raver" at 52 yet I find this music genre fascinating as when played at full throttle it always invokes those "feel good happy" feelings, no matter one's mood .

Truth be told, I am a surgeon specializing in reconstructive or commonly known as, "plastic" surgery. Several times before surgery and when not in the correct mind-set, with my iPhone 3GS and Apple's In-Ear Headphones (which I might add are amazing - a bit pricey at $79.00 on the Apple Store but the sound output, is wow+ for Apple!!), I get quickly back into the correct state of mind!

Off US iTunes I downloaded several Armin van Buuren tracks and later from his "fan site" I learned of his upcoming 2008 Imagine concert in Holland - which I attended with a girlfriend. An expensive, but unforgettable weekend as South Africa is not exactly next door!

If you have gotten this far reading this - do yourself a favor and download his Imagine Album off iTunes - both the live and recorded version - and then listen to them with your plug-in! Don't take my word - as reviewed, Imagine is widely recognized as the best ever Trance / Dance album. If you enjoyed it, then I suggest heading to http://www.armadamusic.com and get the DVD live recording in HD 5.1 stereo, which is literally spell binding!? - to me DJ's like him at the top of this genre, are today's modern era Beethoven's and Bach's!

This past weekend I downloaded off a US torrent site, Pink Floyd's - Delicate Sound of Thunder (live album) - sadly its very hard to find today. I tweaked it using the Mac MP3 freeware app, Audacity - more Bass, Threshold etc and when played through your DPS plug-in, SRS iWow and the Sound Sticks together at full throttle, is awesome. Its sad it never came out in DVD (in VHS only). I used LimeWire Pro to search and download it as a torrent.

In many ways being able to travel abroad as extensively as I do, I am extremely fortunate and privileged to absorb a better appreciation of music than say being seated at my iMac on iTunes. I use iTunes to fill in the gaps and without it I'd be lost. For example, attending the London Symphonic Orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall, is a no-brainer compared to going clubbing - the latter, I can do anywhere. I also enjoy the genre lounge, chill, soft house etc. no of which made much sense to me, that is until spending time at the Paris Buddha Bar Lounge or after visiting Ibiza.

And what may I ask is yours…?

The reason you are having issues with the CD's not reflecting the iTunes EQ is that the EQ works in "real time". This means that the computer is applying the EQ'd sound to each track as you are listening to it and does not change the actual audio file. When you burn a CD in iTunes only the original audio file is written to the CD. The Digital Power Station Plug-In works in a similar fashion; it dynamically optimizes your music in "real time" for the device you are playing it on. For example, if you have Skull Candy earbuds, you would load a DPS profile for that device and you music will be optimized for those earbuds. Here is a link to answer some more questions: http://www.dpsplugin.com/help/doku.php

The DPS is excellent at smoothing differences in volume between songs and would be a great addition to your MacBook pro. However, you would need DPS in your car to hear the same effect. So look for a very exciting new automotive option for DPS later this year! ;-)

If you would like a step by step procedure to alter your audio files using different software I'm sure we can oblige. It's pretty tricky!

Awesome! Sounds like you have a great setup. What kind of music do you listen to on this system?

I must say that the sound from my Soundsticks 11 + your DPS plug in is magical.

Further running in tandem with the plug in SRS iWOW but with the iTunes Equalizer switched off is even better - way better.

The DPS profile I use is Universal 5, and in iTunes as per your instruction I have disabled Sound Check and the other - cant remember which?

I really dont see how you can improve on the sound with both plug-ins enabled. On its own SRS iWOW is awesome. Adding DPS take the Soundsticks 11 to another level entirely.

What's even more fun is that my iPad 64GB wifi / 3G is running an app released this week called "Air Display" - this turns the iPad screen into an additional Mac Display on my LAN. On the iPad screen, I have both plug-ins displayed, plus iTunes miniaturized.

My CPU is an iMac 24" 2.93 GHZ 8GB RAM / OS 10.6.3

I have a MacBook Pro. I enjoy making cds from my Itunes catalogue for use in my car stereo. Unfortunately, many songs are recorded at quite different volume levels. I make the volume adjustments per song using Itunes' equalizer and burn the cd. The cd plays fine on the MacBook with nice quality external speakers. When I play the cd on the car stereo, unfortunately the volume disparity from song to song is still apparent. Apple technician said he believes that since the original music file is not altered when using their equalizer, this would be the reason the playback on the car stereo does not reflect the adjustment which works fine on the MacBook. He suggested purchasing an audio app to alter the file itself. Is the DPS Itunes plugin the answer? And if so what is the step by step procedure for making the volume adjustments please?
