Yes. However, you must first purchase a program called AirFoil by Rouge Amoeba. http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/ This program will hijack all audio from iTunes and transmit it to your AirFoil or Apple TV. However, there is a considerable delay (about 1 second) when using this method. This is not an issue when using a playlist but switching tracks can be cumbersome. Also, video playing in the iTunes window will not be in sync with audio playing through the AirPort Express.

Setup is simple:

1) Install the AirFoil software

2) Set the “application” menu to “iTunes”

3) If your network is setup properly you should see your AirPort Express. Select it by clicking on the speaker icon. It will display “Active”.

4) You AirPort Express should be connected via the 1/8” jack to your sound system. Be sure your sound system or speakers are on.

5) Play audio in iTunes. You will notice a delay from when you hit “play” to when you hear sound.

6) Enable the DPS Plug-In. The same delay will occur. You will now hear the DPS technology optimizing your sound system!

If you are currently using 1.4 there is no need to upgrade. This point-release provides Leopard support and fixes an issue where an activation reset was required when upgrading from 1.3.

Actually AirPlay on a Mac will only stream the raw audio file to a particular server like an Airport or Apple TV. In order to stream audio that is optimized by the DPS Plugin, you must use a piece of software called AirFoil. Here is a link to our help page with the relevant info: https://dpsplugin.com/help/doku.php?id=airport_express Let me know if you have any more questions about your particular setup.

Let's see, yes DPS could be coded for your iPad and yes it could have AirPlay. Wait we did this? Check it out in the Apple App store, just search for Bongiovi DPS and download it for your iPhone, iPad or iTouch. You will love it.

Just to expand on my previous post. If there was anyway DPS could be coded to use with iPad it would be great! firstly because the iPad speakers would benefit. Secondly because people can use it when listening with earphones. But most importantly if airplay feature was implicated to DPS for iPad it would be amazing!

Look forward to hearing from Yee

Guys,

Unless things have changed, iTunes bypasses any plugins and streams the song data directly to the Apple TV. Rogue Amoeba's AirFoil is usually the answer to this dilemma. Keep in mind a LOT has changed in other aspects of OSX and iTunes so some experimentation is in order. Here is Rogue Amoeba's link: http://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/

At this time I don't think the DPS Plug-In for iTunes supports Airplay. I tried it with my Macbook Pro and Apple TV rev2, but none of the setting seem to make a difference. I will ask our engineers about this situation.

The DPS iOS App does have support for Airplay and it does work, we will be adding some tunings for it soon.
