I think this is certainly in the future. There are a million details to consider when bringing a new consumer audio device to market. But now that DPS is implemented in several hardware dsp chips I can see this happening. I'd like to see this hardware version have pro-audio capabilities also!

I think Siri looks pretty cool. Android has similar functionality, but I think Siri is a tad bit more advanced in functionality. I do look for the competition to update their apps with more advanced 'Siri-like' features very soon (Vlingo - I'm looking at you). :)

I'm still on the 3Gs now, so I'm considering updating to the 4s, if for no other reason than battery life. when i bought my 3Gs, they ended up announcing the 4 just a couple of weeks later, talk about bad timing, haha. that Siri function is pretty cool, not sure how much i would realistically use it though.

This is probably in the wrong subject forum, but I was wondering if Bongiovi has ever considered developing an external, chip-based product that would work with devices, like an iPhone. What I’m thinking is a small device, which might plug into a USB port and could be programmed by a computer to handle profiles, etc. Simplistically, it would plug into the headphone output of any player and then connect to a pair of head phones. On a larger scale, presumably a box with DPS built-in could have more sophisticated controls and outputs for more demanding applications. Obviously, I have no idea what the economics of producing something like this would be, but I would be willing to pay for such a product, assuming it doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars. Part of my thinking is such a product might get Bongiovi to move away from programming DPS for the myriad of operating systems it has to support for different computers and handhelds. I would think an external device could provide a much more consistent level of performance and, one hopes, get rid of problems like audio drop outs.

I'm actually streaming from a LAN HTPC to a laptop wireless. I'm sure the transfer rate would be fine over the copper but the wifi is much slower. However, I have seen a few stand-alone boxes that can stream from a media server to a TV over wifi at 1080p. I'm sure it is some type of UDP situation but my knowledge stops there lol! There is probably some data compression as well...

A phenomenal program to use for a HTPC, if you aren't using it already is XBMC. It has everything you could need. It can access the shares easily. you should check it out, and is your HTPC connected wirelessly or wired to the network? Cause streaming from one wireless pc to another tends to really suck in the performance area.

If you're looking to add some storage to you home or work network and have an old computer (not more than 6yrs) then all you need is some hard drives for storage and FreeNAS 8.0. The latest version of FreeNAS works better than ever. Just go to http://freenas.org/ and download the 32 or 64bit version depending on your hardware and follow the easy setup instructions. You can access your new NAS server from Windows, Mac or Linux and the amount of storage is limited only by how many hard drives you can fit in the old computer. The greatest part is FreeNAS will run from a 1GB usb thumb drive so the hard drives are used only as storage.

I'm using an old Dell Dimenison 1100 and adding 2 2TB hard drives. This is where I plan to store my iTunes library, tv shows and movies. So far the initial setup is working and everything tests out.

I would buy a keyboard that plugs in to my TV that is my computer. No doubt. I admit the Commodore 64 seems dorky but I think I would get one too. Says a lot about us. Ha.

Oh man. Does this make me a complete dork if I honestly want one of these? Be honest now...

I'm excited to see what the new Commodore OS looks like. Go to their website and it looks like they have a few interesting products in the works, following along the "computer in a keyboard" line of thinking. Buy a keyboard, plug it in to any TV or monitor, and you have a fully functioning computer. Will it catch on?
