Too funny! Shatner is currently on a cross Canada tour of roughly 6 cities. He'll be here in Toronto on Nov. 4. I might go see his show. His Vancouver show last Wednesday was 3 hours long and had mixed reviews. Still, he's one of the best Canadian performers of the past few decades. He's probably a millionaire several times over just shilling for priceline.com. never mind the royalties which he's probably still collecting from Star Trek.

Since their release in 1978, hit albums like Bruce Springsteen’s “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” Billy Joel’s “52nd Street,” the Doobie Brothers’ “Minute by Minute,” Kenny Rogers’s “Gambler” and Funkadelic’s “One Nation Under a Groove” have generated tens of millions of dollars for record companies. But thanks to a little-noted provision in United States copyright law, those artists — and thousands more — now have the right to reclaim ownership of their recordings, potentially leaving the labels out in the cold.

When copyright law was revised in the mid-1970s, musicians, like creators of other works of art, were granted “termination rights,” which allow them to regain control of their work after 35 years, so long as they apply at least two years in advance. Recordings from 1978 are the first to fall under the purview of the law, but in a matter of months, hits from 1979, like “The Long Run” by the Eagles and “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer, will be in the same situation — and then, as the calendar advances, every other master recording once it reaches the 35-year mark.

More at the link below.

Ok... I'll bite. For $7, how bad can it be? Besides, you guys seem like nice guys. I liked "Spellcast", but I've been fooled before by bands who either (a) allow a free dl of what is by far their best track, or (b) have one good track, but think the whole album needs to sound like that.

I'll let you know what I think. Also dl'd a flac version, so after I convert, etc., and give a couple of listens...

Thanks for DPS... and maybe I'll thank you later for Keep Humming Bird (I do like the title, btw...)

The new Radiohead didn't really resonate with me either. it seemed like they laid down a weird groove then jammed on top of it. I stopped listening to Phish after college! In Rainbows has a similar thing going on but I feel they spent more time sculpting the loops and interacting with them over the course of the song to create more of a shape to each track and the album as a whole. This new records has no shortage of strangeness but it gets stale and turns to noise quickly when you it's just looping.

However, I will give it another listen or two. Kid-A and Amnesiac were a little tough for me to digest at first but now i love them.

nowadays, i am mostly enjoying TRON: Legacy Reconfigured
but in general, IDM, Rock/Hard Rock/Progressive Rock/Math Rock/Brit Rock, Punk, Trip-Hop, Neu-Jazz are the major genres i like listening. u can check my last.fm ;)

but after all, i guess it all depends on my mood

about the RadioHead... I dont know, it might be me, I was expecting something, "new". you see, when you take a look at the RadioHead discography, there is some sort of progression noticeable. and this album, just sounded like an old RadioHead albums B Sides... maybe I am getting old :P

"i've caught myself enjoying the Police"

I am really enjoying it. It is not my favorite by any stretch of the word. I thought "In Rainbows" was a great collection of tunes. I think I am into the new one because of my leanings in IDM and Glitchy style electronica. (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, etc.) Over all I think it;s a good listen. i really like KID A a whole lot. What's your fave?

Our friend and client Mark Stein and his band, Vanilla Fudge is playing on Jimmy Fallon on March 28th. Legendary rock band that everyone should check out. So glad to see them on Fallon.
