A lot of talk is generating about Apple quite possibly turning iTunes into a cloud subscription service. A recent study by the NPD group concludes that millions would pay for a cloud-based iTunes that would let the user listen to anything in the iTunes catalog. It is not clear on whether or not this will happen but many seem to think 10 dollars would be the monthly fee. Not bad considering the platform would be servicing Computer, Phone and Mobile device users. I for one think it could be a great service. Especially if they get some kind of cloud transfer device in the works that would allow the consumer to stream and broadcast content to our devices at home such as, TV and Radio. Much like the way Blu-Ray Players have Netflix and Pandora built in. Apple already has a huge music and Movie catalog. I do think Millions would jump on board if they were able to stream everything whenever and where ever they want for 10 dollars. I think Apple may have me on this one if it actually goes down. What about you?

I stumbled upon an article tonight with Prince saying, “The Internet is Over.” This comment in regard to mainstream music and the way the world gets music. Very interesting thought. I think in many ways this is true for him. Especially for a well known artist used to a hefty paycheck. However, I feel the internet has just begun in terms of music distribution for the little guys. The up and coming artists have a real way to do it themselves now. The ocean is large though. A lot of creatures swimming around looking for a bite. We can weigh the pros and cons all day about the state of the music industry but to me it seems that success is in the eye of the beholder. The game is changing and everyone is trying new things. Maybe only releasing a CD is the way Prince will connect with his true fans and get a paycheck. While some artists that have never been heard are making huge gains by giving away their music online. Whatever the case maybe, we have a digital revolution going on here. All of us with Bongiovi Acoustics and DPS Plug In are feeling like we are in the right place at the right time. Different strokes for different folks. How do you feel about the state of the music industry?

As many of you know, the head honcho at DPS and Bongiovi Acoustics is Tony Bongiovi. Tony has had many gold records and worked with many artists including, The Talking Heads and The Ramones to name a few. he would work with an artist or label and make a record. Those records all did very well. New ways to release music were happening then. There was the cassette and vinyl. 8 track and reel tapes. People bought music like this over the years. Then the CD happened and people were still into the cassette. People were copying stuff for their friends onto tape from their new alien format, the CD! Here we are again with a new format some years later. The MP3. Seems it has done more than made a headache of a few people copying music for their friends. It has started a downloading revolution. When the CD started costing close to 20 dollars many people jumped ship. I was fairly internet and tech savvy at the time. I still to this day buy my top artists albums in vinyl and or CD formats. This is the state of the new record biz. Well, for now anyway. Until the powers that be decide on a new alien format to become popular. Indie artists unite!

So the new iPhone 4g is upon us. Seems everywhere I look it is there. Like a gnome of some kind. A phone gnome! I have not yet jumped on the bandwagon. Though I cannot help but notice some key new features that look amazing. The forward facing camera is really a very cool feature. great for business and making fun videos for YouTube or whatever. The Retina Display has four times the pixel density of a typical LCD display at 326 pixels per inch! Crazy! I am teased by these upgrades alone. As soon as they open up to some new phone service providers I am there. The only real downside for me is AT&T. Not a fan. Plans are very pricey. Once they open up a bit I am sure I will join in on the iPhone 4g craziness. Though by then I am sure there will be something better. Time will tell. What are your thoughts on the new iPhone and AT&T?
